I was going to write this really long author's note about this story, why iit's taken so long to write and stuff, but it's late, and I wanted to post what I had for sassy_cissa, cause she's been patient, more patient than anyone should ever be.

And no, it's not finished, but I got to the halfway point, and the rest will be easier to finish up now. No more than a week, and I'll be posting each part til it's done.

Plus it's only 9:30 on my side of the country, so I did make the 25th deadline, so yay!

I'd started writing a birthday drabble for knightmare_shad, but it wasn't working. See, the thing is, alisanne likes schmoop, and eeyore likes...weird shit. lol But her favorite pairing is Bill/Neville, which I've never attempted. Why should I, when she's so friggin good at it?

Now, km, she likes Severus. Okay. I have a hard time with Sev's voice. It has to be clipped, annoyed, sarcastic...able to melt your monitor at the drop of the blade. So, I got thinking, how could I get Severus' voice right?

By having him talk to someone else.

But who? Harry? Draco? Lucius?

No.

To a character that km created almost two years ago, in the first story of hers I'd ever read, which remains one of my all time favorite stories. Original characters can be tricky. Sometimes, they take over a fic. And sometimes, they enhance it. Brian is of the latter persuasion. km has a knack for creating original characters that stay with you after you're done reading. There's a little girl named Arianna that I want to kidnap...lol

So, km, I hope you don't mind that I went to your toybox for inspiration. Thing is, you have such wonderful toys...
