When I was a little girl, I used to watch the Miss America pageant. Mostly cause the girls were pretty.
It didn't take long to realize that, for a lot of years, none of them looked like me. So I quit watching.
I'm glad I did.
Dear Miss California -
You are the reason that pretty blonde girls get a bad rap. People hear the inanities coming out of your pie-hole, and think that all the girls that look like you are, well...fucking stupid.
Perez Hilton's question was a loaded one, to be sure. And your anwswer was not to the liking of the crowd, it seems. But, I'm guessing that since most Miss America contestants are/were college students, they'd teach you to engage your brain before engaging your pie-hole. You didn't. Dumbass. Or maybe you did engage your brain, which is even scarier.
One thing you said was right - it is your country.
It's my country, too.
You said that in your country, you believe that marriage is between a man and a woman. That that was what you were taught.
That's also what I was taught.
However, I, unlike you, grew up. And learned. Maybe you should learn something, too.
Hope you didn't have plans for that tiara. It's looking mighty good on Miss North Carolina. Although strangely enough, she looks just like you. Bringing me back to where I started - that all the pageant girls look alike, and none of them looked like me.
In closing, might I make a suggestion? Next time you want something really badly, and you have to throw people under the bus to get it, think about what it's gonna cost you. This weekend, it was the crown. 5 months ago, it was the right to marry here in California. 40 years before that, it was the right to marry someone of a different race. See what's happening here? People who think like you set the rest of us back.
And we're sick of it.
