OMFG!!! Well, *THAT* wasn't such a good idea!! *UPDATE*
I am NOT making this shit up.

There's a 6 year old kid in Colorado trapped in a helium balloon, haul-assing through the skies RIGHT NOW.

Here's a link to the live video:

6 yr old Falcon Heene trapped in helium balloon.

God, I hope they get him down safe. The National Guard has sent a helicopter after the balloon.

ETA:

Somebody is gonna be in DEEP SHIT!!!! They got the balloon down, and THERE'S NO KID IN IT!!!!

So, my question is...WHERE IS THE KID!?!?! More later as scene develops.

ETA2: Kid was found, hiding in the attic and crying. But safe.

Oh, fuck. If this isn't a hoax, those parents are going to be devastated by grief *and* guilt. And the older brother? OMG. This is so horrible.

They don't have any reports as to where the kid is. This is scary shit. Did he do something to the balloon, then tke off when it did, and is hiding somewhere? Or did he, god forbid, fall out??

The thought of a 6 year-old hiding for two hours is hard for me to believe. I really hope that is the case. This is a scary situation. It's like a crazy episode of "Without a Trace."

Did the news show a lot of video of the balloon flying, like for the hour or two that the news knew about it before it landed?

when my grandmother told me that she heard this on the indian radio station, i started laughing. she said that some kid was carried away b/c of a balloon. i asked her where these ppl got their news b/c how's a balloon going to lift a person into the air (she didn't understand the hot air balloon part, being an old indian lady that doesn't really get the workings technology lol). seriously stupid stuff. i mean, why would you put a kid in by himself. he should have at least had a parent with him *shakes head*

The theory was that the kid was screwing around with it, got in, and it got loose. It was indeed boogeying across the skies. Then the balloon experts were saying, no way could that thing carry a child. Thing was, on screen, the balloon looked ginormous. No way to tell until it came down, or once the dimensions were discovered.

Was he ever in the balloon?

Nope. I think he was dicking around with it and set it loose. Then got scared and took off. The older brother saw him messing with it, and went to run tell. Then next thing you know, there goes the balloon.

After finding out that the family had been on Wife Swap, I am wondering if this was a publicity stunt...

They'd better hope not.

They had the FAA, NORAD and the National Guard on alert. You know how many federal laws that is? That's the kind of shit the government makes your ass disappear over.

CNN quoted the father saying the brother filmed the six year-old getting into the balloon, but then he obviously got out, without the brother seeing. Seems like the brother didn't lie, was just wrong. They interviewed him multiple times. Poor little guy, too.

Your post first alerted me to the situation. What a rollercoaster, and I joined after the balloon was down. I can't imagine what it was like to have seen the whole thing unfold.
